Ты путаешь слова «логичный» и «прямой».
Я так думаю, что тут упущено «give». Мол никогда не сдавайся, никогда не поддавайся влиянию.

NEUTRAL GRIP NIBLICK
NEVER UP, NEVER IN
A slogan that refers to putting.
There are two philosophies about precision putting (putts other than lag putts):
One school of thought claims that «touch» putting (also called «finesse» putting) is the way to go. Try to propel the ball with precisely the amount of speed needed for the ball to reach the hole. but no more.
The other method is to propel the ball a bit harder, such that the putt is guaranteed to reach the hole no matter what.
The first approach is favored by golfers who are willing to risk leaving a birdie putt short just to ensure that the resulting par putt is no more than a tap-in. This is considered a conservative approach and can be used by players in the lead, late in a competition.
The second approach is where this slogan enters in. The slogan is a criticism of the first approach and basically says that by finessing a putt and leaving it short of the hole (50% of the time, statistically) the finesse golfer is sacrificing 50% of his or her birdie opportunities because a ball that never reaches the hole can never enter the hole, no matter how accurate its direction.
Slam putting is favored by confident putters who realize that in order to give every birdie putt an opportunity to fall in, they will occasionally send a missed putt well beyond the hole, risking a bogie. Their position is that over the long run, the number of additional birdies achieved using an aggressive putting style will outweigh the additional bogies resulting from missed return putts on the par attempt.
Of course, the finesse putters counter that a slam putter will never catch a corner of the hole.
This is one of those perpetually unwinnable arguments.
